According to the latest data from market research firm Kantar Worldpanel, Google's Android has continued to extend its domination during the smartphone market in the three months ending April 2016. After observing smartphone sales during the time period, the industry watchers believe that Android has held a 76% share of the global smartphone market. That's up 5.8% compared to the same three months a year ago. The authors of the report estimate that most of Android's progress has been made at the expense of Microsoft's Windows Phone. Kantar estimates that 10% of new Android buyers in the time period have switched from Windows Phone. A year ago, WP held a 3.8% slice of the US market and a 9.3% slice of the EU5 (Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Spain). Chinese vendor Xiaomi stays true to its "give the most for the price" success mantra, even when it comes down to its lowest catalog tier. The new Xiaomi Redmi 3S is a showcase of how much tech can be (reasonably) given away for the equivalent of $105 (699 Yuan), which is how much the base model starts at. The Redmi 3S is a bit of an iPhone lookalike that's sold in familiar Gray, Silver, and Gold colors. Its body is metal, although the top and bottom parts appear to be made of aluminum-imitating plastic to solve signal reception problems. Its 5-inch IPS display runs at a 720 x 1280px resolution, while the back of the phone is graced with a fingerprint scanner – a particularly nice treat for budget-minded users. Today at WWDC 2016, Apple announced that soon you will be able to use Apple Pay on the web. Yes, you will be able to purchase goods by simply tapping a "Pay with Apple Pay" button, which will roll out later this year.   Once you pick up the goods you want to purchase and tap the aforementioned button on the web, a message will pop up on your iPhone asking you to authenticate the purchase with Touch ID. Nifty! Additionally, it was announced that Apple Pay is expanding to the Switzerland, France, and Honk Kong later this year. This makes Apple Pay available in a plethora of countries, namely the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, China, and Singapore.

Oh, what a day it has been! The tech community is rattling with announcements, and the latest one on the list comes straight from WWDC. Right on cue, Apple announced the newest version of iOS, the software powering the millions of iPhones and iPads worldwide. It is called iOS 10. Naturally, the iOS 10 announcement brings a lot to be excited about. For starters, the platform's latest version prioritizes user experience with new features like the enhanced lock screen. You know how using Touch ID to unlock your iPhone takes you straight to your home screen, preventing you from seeing your latest notifications? This should be a thing of the past with iOS 10. Microsoft has finally decided to bring the functionality of the Windows 10 Xbox app to both Android and iOS devices via a new update for the Xbox One SmartGlass app, rebranding it simply to “Xbox” along the way. Being virtually identical to its Windows counterpart, the new app still offers nothing in the way of game streaming. There's no sign of party chat support either, but it's a safe bet that this will change in the near future. The app allows you to chat with friends, to access your library and achievements, and to buy games on the go. It can also turn your device into a touch keyboard and multimedia keyboard for your Xbox One. The new version has Facebook integration and allows users to import contacts from their phone books, although judging by Play Store reviews, some Android users are experiencing problems with the latter feature. Apple will be unveiling a lot of  new and exciting things at WWDC 16 , no doubt about it. Rumor has it that  Siri will be coming to OS X , and it sounds like she'll be more capable and broad-minded toward working with other apps. What that basically means is that Siri will be able to do tasks for you within different apps – say, order a pizza, book tickets for a movie or check for important events in a calendar app. Thing is, Apple will have to open Siri to outside developers in order to achieve this vision. Sources familiar with the matter speaking to WSJ are claiming that Apple will do just that at tonight's WWDC 16.
