Ugly holiday sweaters have had a renaissance recently for ... odd reasons (mostly comedy or irony) and Google apparently feels that smartphones have been left out in the cold for too long, so it has taken it upon itself to bring ugly sweaters to the smartphone crowd, at least in a small way and only for those in the New York City area. Starting tomorrow, December 17th, through December 23rd the NYC Made by Google pop-up store is running a promotion that sounds pretty cool. If you visit the store any one of those days between noon and 6pm, Google says "you'll have the opportunity to take home a sweater-shaped cookie, a Pixel-sized sweater, a human-sized sweater, a Pixel phone, or a combo of all these items." Unfortunately, other personal belongings in our lives aren’t quite as smart as our smartphones. Tile hit the scene back in 2013 with a Kickstarter campaign to help remedy this issue once and for all. It’s reported that the average person misplaces a total of 3,000 items every single year, and then spends about 60 hours each year as well trying to find said items. The folks behind Tile had had enough of this catastrophe, and released a Bluetooth tracker that people could use to finally have an easy solution for locating their lost items. Rumors say that Parisian brand Hermes will release a number of new bands for the Apple Watch this Thursday. There are information and images available for one new model, the Equator Tatoutage. It's made by designer Robert Dallet and it's going to be a limited edition band. It's based on the Simple Tour band, with jungle-inspired imagery. It will retail for about $442, which is more expensive than the already pricey Simple Tour band ($368). One thing is for sure, though, it does look exquisite on the Apple Watch, as you can see in the photos below. The Equator Tatoutage will be sold only in Hermes boutiques. There is no information about the other Hermes bands coming along. We'll see what the brand has in store for Apple's smartwatch pretty soon.

Amazon's Alexa virtual assistance is growing to be more and more powerful with every single day that passes. Alexa can be used to order a ride via Uber, check the weather, add an event to your calendar, and most recently, access 60,000 recipes and help you make dinner. In the most recent update to the AI, Alexa's helpfulness is moving form the cutting board to the vacuum with its new integration with Neato's Botvac. The latest skill for Alexa allows owners of the Neato Botvac Connected to command their vacuum to clean up their house by shouting commands at devices like the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot. In order to make the magic happen, you'll need to open the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet, choose the option that says "Smart Home" in the left-hand menu, and then tap on the "Get More Smart Home Skills" section. If you have been purchasing some Apple products from Amazon, Apple has a warning for you. As many as 90% of the chargers and cables listed as being "genuine" Apple products turned out to be counterfeit. This bit of information was disclosed in a federal lawsuit filed by Apple earlier this past week. Apple is suing a New Jersey company called Mobile Star for being the source of the counterfeit goods on Amazon. Apple purchased these devices itself, and then informed Amazon that they were not legitimate Apple products. At that point, Amazon told Apple that a firm called Mobile Star was offering the counterfeit goods. These fakes present a health risk to consumers according to Apple, because they "pose a significant risk of overheating, fire, and electrical shock."
