Windows 10 Mobile-powered HP Elite x3 receives third firmware update

HP and Microsoft seem to be taking good care of the $799 Windows 10-powered Elite x3. The "prosumer" smartphone with a heavyweight spec sheet has been treated to its third software update since its October release. Software version number ending with 0014.0100 has been upgraded to one ending with 0018.0105. The update itself is a small download that isn't accompanied by a change log. Thus, its exact contents are not known. So far, updates for the HP Elite x3 have included the typical device performance, hardware, and battery optimizations, along with bug fixes. This is probably the case with the current upgrade. Announced at this February's Mobile World Congress, the HP Elite x3 features a 5.96-inch, 1440 x 2560 resolution AMOLED screen and it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Leaked Lenovo Miix 520 2-in-1 device specs and information show a budding Surface Pro 4 competitor

Leaks passed along by German website WinFuture suggest that Lenovo is working on a successor to the Miix 510, a 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet-laptop hybrid with a 12.2-inch display and pen stylus that's powered by Intel's Core processors. It was released in October, priced at $750 for the base model. According to the new information, the Miix 520 will have a 12.3-inch, 1920 x 1200 resolution screen and it will be available in configurations ranging between Intel Core i3-6006U / 4GB RAM and Intel Core i7-7500U / 16GB RAM, with between 128GB and 1TB of SSD storage. The processors are from Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake line-up. The device has a dual camera setup on its back, comprised of one 8MP camera and a secondary 2MP cam for augmented reality purposes. The front side will feature a 5MP camera. Kantar: Android continues to win over market share from Apple's iOS and Windows Phone

According to the latest data from market research firm Kantar Worldpanel, Google's Android has continued to extend its domination during the smartphone market in the three months ending April 2016. After observing smartphone sales during the time period, the industry watchers believe that Android has held a 76% share of the global smartphone market. That's up 5.8% compared to the same three months a year ago. The authors of the report estimate that most of Android's progress has been made at the expense of Microsoft's Windows Phone. Kantar estimates that 10% of new Android buyers in the time period have switched from Windows Phone. A year ago, WP held a 3.8% slice of the US market and a 9.3% slice of the EU5 (Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Spain). HP releases videos of the beastly Windows 10 Mobile powered HP Elite x3

Remember the  HP Elite x3 ? The highly spec'd Windows 10 Mobile phone was first mentioned by us last December when it  showed up on AnTuTu under the name HP Falcon . Now, HP is working hard to get the Elite X3 ready for launch. The phone features a Gorilla Glass 4 protected 5.96-inch AMOLED display, carrying a 1440 x 2560 resolution. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 chipset with a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM is inside along with 64GB of expandable native storage. Those seeking additional memory can access the 2TB capacity microSD slot. A 16MP camera adorns the rear of the phone, while an 8MP front-facing snapper shoots selfies and handles video chats. The Elite x3 features both a fingerprint scanner and an iris reader. The unit is IP67 certified meaning that it can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water (3.28 feet) for as long as 30-minutes.
