Apple Pay on the web is official, allows you to purchase goods online with a tap of a button

Image
Today at WWDC 2016, Apple announced that soon you will be able to use Apple Pay on the web. Yes, you will be able to purchase goods by simply tapping a "Pay with Apple Pay" button, which will roll out later this year.   Once you pick up the goods you want to purchase and tap the aforementioned button on the web, a message will pop up on your iPhone asking you to authenticate the purchase with Touch ID. Nifty! Additionally, it was announced that Apple Pay is expanding to the Switzerland, France, and Honk Kong later this year. This makes Apple Pay available in a plethora of countries, namely the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, China, and Singapore.

iOS 10 is announced, brings improved user experience and a lot more

Image
Oh, what a day it has been! The tech community is rattling with announcements, and the latest one on the list comes straight from WWDC. Right on cue, Apple announced the newest version of iOS, the software powering the millions of iPhones and iPads worldwide. It is called iOS 10. Naturally, the iOS 10 announcement brings a lot to be excited about. For starters, the platform's latest version prioritizes user experience with new features like the enhanced lock screen. You know how using Touch ID to unlock your iPhone takes you straight to your home screen, preventing you from seeing your latest notifications? This should be a thing of the past with iOS 10. Your iPhone's screen will turn on automatically as soon as you pick up your phone. Neat! This news story is in development. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Android and iOS finally have a proper Xbox app

Image
Microsoft has finally decided to bring the functionality of the Windows 10 Xbox app to both Android and iOS devices via a new update for the Xbox One SmartGlass app, rebranding it simply to “Xbox” along the way. Being virtually identical to its Windows counterpart, the new app still offers nothing in the way of game streaming. There's no sign of party chat support either, but it's a safe bet that this will change in the near future. The app allows you to chat with friends, to access your library and achievements, and to buy games on the go. It can also turn your device into a touch keyboard and multimedia keyboard for your Xbox One. The new version has Facebook integration and allows users to import contacts from their phone books, although judging by Play Store reviews, some Android users are experiencing problems with the latter feature. Microsoft began rolling out the update mere hours before its E3 press conference. The Xbox app is available for both  A

Siri to get more capable and open-minded in time for iOS 10, might land on OS X as well

Image
Apple will be unveiling a lot of  new and exciting things at WWDC 16 , no doubt about it. Rumor has it that  Siri will be coming to OS X , and it sounds like she'll be more capable and broad-minded toward working with other apps. What that basically means is that Siri will be able to do tasks for you within different apps – say, order a pizza, book tickets for a movie or check for important events in a calendar app. Thing is, Apple will have to open Siri to outside developers in order to achieve this vision. Sources familiar with the matter speaking to WSJ are claiming that Apple will do just that at tonight's WWDC 16. Big tech companies are betting more and more on digital assistants, with AI companions gaining an ever wider presence in our daily lives. Amazon got Alexa's soothing voice in our households with the introduction of Amazon Echo, while Google is striving to touch its users emotionally with the upcoming Google Assistant, complete with a childhood backstor

An iPhone 7 Pro with 'powerful zoom' to land in the fall, yet Foxconn CEO predicts 'feeble' sales

Image
As if we needed a reminder that  Apple's iPhone sales are to remain soft this year  despite the  iPhone 7  launch, the CEO and chairman of Foxconn  Terry Gou  himself has reportedly chipped in on the matter. He reportedly told the staff to expect "feeble" iPhone sales at least until early 2017. Now, whether that's based on the order amount in the pipeline, or what he knows about the selling points of the upcoming iPhones, remains to be seen, but for Q1 Foxconn reported a 5.5% revenue drop year-on-year, despite a sudden order rush in April and May.  DUAL LENS IPHONE 7 PRO TIPPED TO SPORT MORE POWERFUL ZOOM Suppliers are also complaining that Apple is now making too many color versions, which leads to inventory buildup for some that hurts their business, as orders are adjusted dynamically each quarter. As per Lin Chien-nan, the CEO of Wintek that used to be a big touch module supplier: " Apple is always overbooking its capacity. It works only when

Samsung considering shifting away from Android, focusing on its own Tizen OS

Image
One of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world, best known for its Android devices, could be still considering to reduce its reliance on Google's open platform and to bet more on its proprietary OS. Nothing is set in stone yet, but earlier today The Korea Times (KT) reported that Samsung might be going the Apple way with its Tizen platform. The anonymous inside source from Samsung quoted by KT claims that,  “if you don't have your own ecosystem, then you will have no future.” Up until now Samsung has stuck to Android for pretty much everything but its Z-branded phones in India, its smartwatches and some of its household appliances which run on Tizen. Considering how much of a presence the manufacturer has on the global smartphone market, it might be feeling ready for a risky move that will either pay off handsomely or cause a lot of trouble. The anonymous Samsung executive admits that the company was late with developing its separate ecosystem, noting nonethele

New Apple Watch app Breathe turns your wearable into a deep breathing coach

Image
On stage, Apple announced a brand new Apple Watch app created for stress relief. Breathe turns your wearable into a deep breathing coach that reminds you to calm your body and mind by taking moments to go about filling your lungs with precious oxygen in a slow, methodical manner. When you call the app on your Apple Watch, it will display an animation coordinated with your breathing speed and start measuring the number of breaths you take per minute. When you're done, it will present a summary of your session containing your breaths per minute and average heart rate. It's a small and lightweight app, but it can potentially do wonders. We didn't get the memo on when this little bit of breath relief magic will arrive on your Apple Watch, but we assume Breathe will be part of an upcoming watchOS update. Stay tuned for more coverage as Apple's WWDC 16 keynote unfolds this very moment!

Well, WWDC is up and rolling, and the first major OS update to be announced is watchOS 3. A much-needed update to the operating system of the Apple Watch, which seems to add a lot of features to make it more comfortable to use, and more helpful in our day-to-day lives. We'll also be seeing an easier access to our most often-used apps thanks to an all-new App Dock. An all-new Control Center, housing all of the Watch's essential quick-toggles, will also make an appearance. Replying to messages has also been made much easier, with quick replies appearing right under the received messages, without the user having to tap a "reply" button prior. Typing out your own message is now also possible, thanks to all-new Scribble. Of course, we'll be getting all-new watchfaces, more updates to the Watch's activity tr

Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 7 teaser reveals curved edge screen

Image
Some mysteries related to the next version of the Samsung Galaxy Note phablet have apparently been cleared up, thanks to an alleged teaser for the phablet. The image was sent to us by a source who wishes to remain anonymous. According to his story, he was able to obtain a picture of the teaser. If the image is legit, it confirms that Samsung is dong the smart thing and is calling this year's iteration of the Galaxy Note the  Samsung Galaxy Note 7 . By skipping the Note 6 name and going straight to Note 7, Samsung would be aligning the Galaxy Note 7 with the  Samsung Galaxy S7  flagship phone. Samsung feared that consumers would look at the Galaxy Note 6 name and conclude that it contained last year's technology. In addition, the  Apple iPhone 7  and Apple iPhone 7 Plus  could also perpetuate that myth when they launch in three months. The teaser is actually a pun that reads "write on the edge of something great." This apparently alludes to the rumored design of
