Samsung looking for new suppliers of fingerprint modules
About two weeks ago we reported that Samsung might be working on its own fingerprint scanners. And while this might still be the case, some new rumors surfaced on the subject. According to The Investor, the South Korean giant is considering local suppliers for some of its fingerprint scanners.


One of the companies, Samsung is rumored to be in talks with, has been trying to push its products to the tech conglomerate for the past few years, while the other is new to the fingerprint scanner market. The two new partners are expected to supply a total of 2 million modules for Samsung's low-end phones.

If the rumors are true, Samsung might be looking for a way to mix up its fingerprint scanner supplies, with some being made in-house, others being bought from local suppliers and some (probably for the flagship models) coming from the big names in the market, Synaptics and FPC. This would allow Samsung to implement such modules across their entire phone catalog and not only in its flagship models, since it will reduce the modules' cost.

Neither the in-house scanners, nor the new suppliers are officially confirmed by Samsung, so we can't know for certain how things will progress, but we'll be keeping an eye on the situation.

Waterproof LG G6 to include wireless charging?

LG's next flagship phone is expected to be called the LG G6. That is the easy part to figure out. What isn't so easy is figuring out what features will be included on the device. According to a report out of Korea published today, the LG G6 will be waterproof. One LG executive was quoted as saying that there is high demand for a waterproof handset in Japan because of the humid and rainy weather. The report adds that this will mean the end of replaceable batteries on LG's flagship phone, which in turn means the end of modular capabilities. With rumors circulating that Pokemon GO for the Apple Watch had been scrapped, Niantic disseminated a tweet on Saturday saying that the popular game will be coming to Apple's timepiece soon. Depending on what Niantic means as soon, the promise it made to release the Pokemon GO app for the Apple Watch before the end of the year might be in peril. The Pokemon GO app for Apple Watch is designed to keep players from having to stare at their iPhone screen all day. It gives Pokemon trainers an idea of where they are in the game and alerts them when a Pokemon is nearby.
